Time Flies
For disappearing acts, it's hard to beat what happens to the eight hours supposedly left after eight of sleep and eight of work.

Best of Oklahoma Living 2011
I ran across this little tidbit the other day while browsing around the internet.
Every year, the best part of the "Best of Oklahoma Living" is to witness, through the votes of our readers, the exclusive beauty of Oklahoma and the rich talent of its people. The charm of Oklahoma's towns, the exceptional skills of Oklahomans, and hte dazzling landscape and wildlife are all but a small display of this great state we call home. Enjoy the 2011 winning results of your votes.
I was happy to see that Tulsa River Park Trails was voted the "Best Place to Ride a Bike". A big salute to the folks who work to make this happen AND the Citizens of Tulsa who realize the importance of the trail system here in Tulsa. Congratulations for being included in the Best of Oklahoma Living!

Still in "Holding Pattern" for Libya
I'm still waiting on a Libian Visa....
Until I get my primary passport back from the Libian Embassy, I'm stuck stateside and in a "Holding Pattern".
I've been getting the "Lay of the Land" literally from my co-worker and best friend James Lay regarding the job site and location. Hopefully when I do go to Libya I won't be blindsided when I get there. I'll write more about my upcoming trip when I know more.

Must Have iPad Apps If You Travel
I've been playing with my new techno gizmo that is quickly becoming a real Road Warrior tool. It's my Apple iPad. Instead of carrying an additional computer, which is pretty weighty. I've been traveling with my iPad. Taking the lead from the iPhone there seems to be a gazillion applications and more hitting the market everyday. One of the applications that has great promise is Flight Board from Mobiata. Here's their spill about it.
Beautiful Graphics. We lovingly based the design on the flight board at Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris. The effect is that your screen really does seem to transform into an airport Arrivals and Departures board.
It looks really promising and I paln on putting this application to the test. If you'd like to read more about it, here is Mobiata's website.

Home Sweet Home
Well since my last post.... I've been to Uralsk, Kazakhstan.
This was a grueling hard trip. Just getting over there and back to the States was a total of 6 flight segments and 5 different airlines which included the following:
Continental
KLM
Air Astana
Transaero
Singapore Airlines
I just knew my luggage was going to get lost in the process but was pleasantly surprised that me and my luggage made it to the jobsite and back to the States in one piece, even if a little worse for wear. Seems when you travel a lot your luggage can sure take a beating. I bought a nice set of luggage and after 3 trips... one of the corners is already cracked. Another thing about luggage is when you pack a lot of equipment it can get rather pricey in the neighborhood of $600 bucks.
My next trip is going to be to Libya unless something pops up between now and then. I'll type some more on this when the mood hits me... :)

Troubleshooting 101
Remember that facts which are not written down have a habit of adjusting themselves to fit the theory of the moment.
Egypt - South Dabba
The next morning the company driver met me and and a co-worker in the lobby of the hotel for transport. I was pleasantly surprised when we headed to the airport instead of having to make the 6 or 7 hour drive to the jobsite.
I'll try and figure out exactly where I'm located in Egypt and post it at a later date. Oh and I'll type up a introduction and what I hope this blog will become or the purpose of it all. Until then, stay cool and most definitely stay safe.
